The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) has recognised Nelson Mandela University as a “Tier 1” university, resulting in a number of the School of Accounting’s undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications obtaining CIMA exemptions. This places successful graduates on a path to become Chartered Global Management Accountants (CGMAs).
Details of the current CIMA exemptions available to School of Accounting graduates are indicated below:
-
BCom General Accounting, BCom Chartered Accountancy and BCom Accounting Science graduates gain exemption from the following CIMA papers:
- The entire Certificate Level (Papers C01, C02, C03, C04 and C05)
- All the Operational Level objective tests (Papers E1, P1 and F1)
-
Postgraduate Diploma in Accountancy graduates gain exemption from:
- The E2 and F2 papers on CIMA’s Management Level
-
Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting (CTA) graduates gain exemption from:
- The P2 and F2 papers on CIMA’s Management Level
Exemptions are only granted by CIMA for completed qualifications (i.e. they are granted to graduates) and not when a module is passed.
CIMA also grants exemptions for other relevant qualifications; however, the exemptions granted vary depending on the qualification – refer to CIMA’s website for more information in that regard.
